Academy
  • In the year 1960, Kalaguru Smt. Elakshiben Thakore instituted Nrityabharti with an objective to impart training in classical dance in Bharatnatyam style.
  • The main aim being to conserve its traditional form, to provide platform to the young budding dancers and to experiment their art in pure traditional form.
  • Nrityabharti has to its credit 18000 students who have obtained training in Bharatnatyam, of which 1800 have given their First Solo Performance “Arangetral”, about 175 students have successfully passed their “Masters Degree” and 135 bright students of Nrityabharti have been awarded Government of India’s scholarship.
  • Many students have started their own institution of dance under the aegis of Nrityabharti and many others have taken up Bharatnatyam as their career by way of employment.
  • Every year Nrityabharti at Academic level arranges “Annual Function”, “Arangetral Mahotsav” and Experimental Show-“Junior Aaj Ke Kalakar” to bring out the creativity, imaginations of the students to surface and conserve our rich heritage. Also, every year the institute arranges lectures and demonstrations, thus opening the new horizons for classical dance among younger generations.
  • Nrityabharti has Four Bharatnatyam Margams to its credit at academic level and a Full Bharatnatyam Margam in Gujarati - a new way of creation in Bharatnatyam by Smt. Elakshi Thakore in order to popularize and develop Bharatnatyam repertoire especially in Gujarat.
  • Chandan Thakore, a synonym for Bharatnatyam for the young generation has been actively handling the entire responsibility of the Institute for the past twenty years and has played a vital role in giving the institute new dimensions with his innovative ways in articalizing the dance.
  • His forays into choreography have produced more than 25 most significant Group Choreographies and some Dance Ballets in classical dance on conceptualizing themes from Indian mythology and contemporary thoughts.
  • Also in this noble cause of Nrityabharti Nirali Thakore, the wife of Chandan Thakore plays an important role in spreading the classical dance through her extra ordinary art in teaching and captivating performances at National and International echelon.
  • Hence Nrityabharti makes constant and arduous efforts to preserve our rich culture of classical dance and build a repertoire of classical dance around the globe.
